Hyperbeat liquid staking
Last updated ·
Hyperbeat stakes HYPE and issues beHYPE, a liquid staking token for HYPE built in collaboration with Etherfi. Holders can earn Hyperliquid staking rewards while using beHYPE in supported HyperEVM DeFi applications. Rewards vary, and using the token in another protocol adds that protocol’s risks and withdrawal conditions.
What Does beHYPE Represent?
HYPE supplied for liquid staking enters Hyperbeat’s staking contracts and is delegated to a chosen validator in the beHYPE active set or, if none is chosen, equally across that set, which excludes Hyperliquid Foundation nodes. The linked wallet receives beHYPE, representing the staked position in a form that supported DeFi applications can use.
Staking rewards depend on the relevant network’s rules and the staking participation. Hyperbeat’s Terms of Use, updated March 1, 2026, state that rewards are not guaranteed and that displayed estimates can differ from actual rewards. A quoted APY therefore should not be treated as a fixed return.
When Does Liquid Staking Fit Better Than Direct Delegation?
Direct delegation is another documented route: HYPE holders can delegate to the Hyperbeat x P2P x Hypio validator through the HyperCore frontend.
beHYPE adds a token that supported HyperEVM applications can use, including as collateral or in a DeFi strategy. A holder also takes on exposure to Hyperbeat’s liquid staking contracts. DeFi uses can add further contract risk and, where borrowing is involved, debt and liquidation exposure.
How Does Holding beHYPE Differ From a Vault Deposit?
Holding beHYPE provides liquid staking exposure. The liquidHYPE vault is a separate automated DeFi strategy for beHYPE, so its allocations and advertised return need to be assessed alongside its own fees, withdrawal terms, and economic risks such as impermanent loss from liquidity provision.
The staking interface also notes an automatic liquidHYPE allocation for beHYPE pre-deposit participants. That allocation includes the vault layer; a liquidHYPE vault balance and a beHYPE balance held outside the vault are different positions.
The beHYPE documentation lists collateral in lending markets and Hyperbeat Pay (subject to identity verification for card activation and regional eligibility), as well as use as the spot leg in dnToken strategies. A dnToken pairs a spot position with a perpetual short to pursue funding-based yield, with yield from the spot asset where applicable. Negative funding and execution costs can reduce or erase that strategy’s yield.
Reading the Mint Quote
The staking interface displays an exchange rate alongside the HYPE input and beHYPE output. Compounded staking rewards are reflected in beHYPE’s exchange rate. The rate’s units determine how to convert between those amounts.
Why Can the beHYPE Amount Be Smaller?
Suppose a holder wants to understand the token quantity shown for a stake. Use these hypothetical inputs: HYPE supplied for staking: 173 HYPE; mint quote: 0.96 beHYPE per HYPE. The quoted amount is
173 HYPE * 0.96 beHYPE/HYPE = 166.08 beHYPE
.
The quoted balance is denominated in beHYPE, so fewer displayed units do not by themselves indicate a deduction from the HYPE stake. A lower beHYPE-per-HYPE quote would produce fewer beHYPE for the same HYPE input; a larger HYPE input at the same quote would increase the amount proportionally. This calculation assumes no separate costs are deducted and does not project staking rewards or the eventual withdrawal value.
What Does Liquidity Mean for an Exit?
The beHYPE staking interface distinguishes Unstake, Instant Redeem, and Pending withdrawals. The beHYPE integration guide describes normal withdrawals with seven-day processing and no withdrawal fee, followed by a claim to receive HYPE. Instant redemption depends on sufficient unstaked HYPE liquidity and carries a 0.5% fee. For liquidHYPE vault shares, the vault documentation instead describes Classic Redemption within two days without fees or slippage, or Instant Redemption with a 0.5% early withdrawal fee when sufficient liquidity is available.
Hyperbeat’s staking terms allow feature- and network-specific lock periods or withdrawal delays, including delays caused by insufficient liquidity or technical issues. The ability to use beHYPE in DeFi does not establish immediate access to the underlying HYPE. Collateral and vault positions also remain subject to the conditions of the product holding them.
Contract and Validator Exposure
The beHYPE documentation names Nethermind, Certora, and Pashov as auditors. That audit coverage concerns beHYPE; it does not establish the security of every application that accepts the token.
Self-custody leaves the holder responsible for wallet credentials, while staking still exposes assets to smart-contract, security, and network risks. Depositing beHYPE into another protocol adds the risks of that position. Borrowing against it also requires managing the debt and collateral as their values and borrowing costs change.
